FaceLapse Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 12, 2026
Last updated: August 19, 2026
Operator: Yuya Sato (individual)
Applies to: the iOS app "FaceLapse"
1. Our Approach
The App is designed around not collecting your personal information. The Operator does not collect and does not transmit your photos, videos, personal information, or usage data through the App.
2. Information the Operator Does Not Collect
- No account is required, and the App never asks for your name, email address, or similar information.
- Your photos and videos are never sent to the Operator or to any external server.
- The App contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs (third-party software components).
- The App does not access your location, contacts, calendar, or health data.
3. How Photos, Videos, and Face Data Are Handled (Entirely On-Device)
- Photos are selected through the standard iOS photo picker. With this mechanism, only the photos you choose are passed to the App, so no permission to read your entire photo library is needed — and the App never requests one.
- Face detection uses Apple's on-device image analysis (the Vision framework). All analysis happens entirely on your device.
- The information obtained through face detection (a bounding box indicating the position of a face and the coordinates of both eyes; collectively, "face data") is used temporarily, in your device's memory only, for the sole purpose of aligning the position of the face in each frame of the video. It is never used for facial recognition, for identifying any individual, or to create a face template.
- Face data is never stored on your device and is never transmitted to or shared with anyone, including the Operator or any third party. It is discarded immediately once alignment is complete or when you close the App.
- The capture date recorded in your photos (Exif data) is used only to sort the photos in chronological order. It is never transmitted or stored.
- Working data (selected photos, face data, face selections, and unsaved videos) is not stored on the device and disappears when you close the App.
- A created video is saved to your device's photo library only when you choose to save it.
4. Device Permissions
The App uses only one permission:
- "Add Only" access to your photo library: used solely to save the created video to your photo library. This permission does not allow the App to read the photos in your library. If you decline, everything except saving still works. You can change this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.
5. Purchase Information
Payment for unlocking the save and share features (a one-time in-app purchase) is processed by Apple. The Operator never receives your name, payment card details, or Apple Account information. The App only checks, on your device, whether the purchase has been made.
6. Information Collected by Apple and iOS
- Your App Store download and purchase records are managed by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
- If analytics sharing (such as "Share with App Developers") is enabled on your device, Apple may collect usage statistics and crash reports, and the Operator may be able to view only aggregated information that cannot identify you. You can turn this off in iOS under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
- For details, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
7. The Share Feature
When you send a video using the share button, the video is passed to the destination app or service you choose (such as a messaging app or social media). From that point on, it is handled under that service's privacy policy. Whether and where to share is always determined by your own action.
8. Information You Provide When Contacting Us
If you contact the Operator by email or other means, your email address and the content of your inquiry are used only to respond to and handle your inquiry. They are not shared with third parties except as required by law, and are deleted once they are no longer needed after the matter is resolved.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for use by adults, such as parents and guardians. The Operator does not collect personal information from any user, including children. Images of children in your photos are never transmitted off your device.
10. For Users Outside Japan (GDPR and Similar Laws)
Because the Operator does not collect or store your personal data, processing of personal data within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK data protection law, or US state privacy laws does not, in principle, occur. The only personal data the Operator may hold is the contact details and content you provide when you make an inquiry. If you wish to access, correct, or delete such data, please contact the address below. Apple is the controller of data relating to the App Store and in-app purchases.
11. Changes to This Policy
If this Policy is changed, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. For material changes, the Operator will provide clear notice in the App or in the App Store release notes.
