NoiseLog Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 2, 2026
Last updated: August 2, 2026
Operator: Yuya Sato (the "Developer")
In short: The NoiseLog app has no mechanism for the Developer to collect your data. All recordings and records are stored only on your iPhone. There is no developer server, no account registration, no advertising, and no analytics.
1. About This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the iPhone app "NoiseLog" (the "App").
2. Information the Developer Collects
The Developer collects no personal information or other data through the App. Specifically:
- There is no account registration, and the App never asks for your name, email address, or similar information.
- The App has no functionality to send data to any developer server.
- The App uses no advertising SDKs, no analytics tools, and no tracking technologies.
- In the App Store's "App Privacy" section, the App falls under "Data Not Collected."
3. Data the App Handles and Where It Is Stored
To provide its features, the App creates and stores the following data only on your iPhone:
- Recordings (audio files): audio recorded with the microphone for your noise log.
- Records: date and time, duration, reference sound level (dB), sound-type tags, life-impact tags, and notes.
- App state: the purchase status of the PDF report feature (verified through Apple's system) and a counter used to manage when to show the App Store review prompt.
None of this data is sent anywhere in a form linked to you, and the Developer cannot access it.
About iPhone backups: If you have enabled iCloud Backup or another backup feature on your iPhone, the App's data is included in your backups just like data from other apps. This is a standard iOS feature and follows your iPhone's settings. Data in backups is handled under Apple's privacy policy, and the Developer cannot access it.
4. Microphone Use
- The App uses the microphone only while you are recording after tapping the record button. It never captures audio at any other time.
- The App uses iOS background audio so that a recording you started can continue while the screen is locked. This, too, is used only to continue a recording you started.
- You can change the microphone permission at any time in the iOS Settings app. Without the permission, recording is unavailable, but you can still view your past records.
5. Deleting Your Data
- You can delete individual records at any time from the record list in the App. The corresponding audio file is deleted at the same time.
- Deleting the App erases all records, recordings, and settings from your device.
- Because the Developer holds none of your data, there is no data held by the Developer for which you would need to request deletion or disclosure.
6. Information Handled by Apple
When you use the App, the following information is handled by Apple, under Apple's own privacy policy, not by the Developer:
- Purchase information: The purchase and restoration of the PDF report feature are processed through Apple's App Store, and the purchase record is managed by Apple, linked to your Apple Account. The Developer never receives your name or payment details.
- Statistics: If you have opted in to sharing with Apple in iOS settings, crash data and usage statistics may be sent to Apple, and the Developer may receive them only as aggregated figures that cannot identify you.
Sharing a PDF report uses the standard iOS share sheet and sends the report to the recipients and apps you choose yourself. Where it goes is determined entirely by your action; the Developer is not involved.
7. Information You Send Us Directly
If you contact us by email, we use your email address and the contents of your message only to reply to your inquiry. We do not share them with third parties, and we delete them once they are no longer needed after the inquiry is resolved.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children; as described above, it does not collect personal information from any user of any age.
9. For Users Outside Japan (GDPR and Similar Laws)
Because the Developer does not collect or process personal data through the App, the Developer holds no data subject to access, deletion, or similar requests under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK data protection law, or US state privacy laws. For information you sent us by email (Section 7), including any requests concerning the rights above, please contact us at the address below.
10. Changes to This Policy
If future features change how information is handled, we will revise this Policy and post the revised version on this page. Material changes will be announced in a clearly noticeable manner, such as a notice in the App.
