Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Waku TODO — listed on the App Store as 湧くTODO — (the "App"), provided by Yuya Sato (the "Developer"), handles information.
In short:
- The data the App creates — your to-dos, notes, due dates, and room — is stored only on your device. It is not sent to the Developer's servers, and the Developer cannot see it.
- The App contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking technology of any kind.
- However, if you email the Developer, the Developer receives what you write. And some information reaches Apple through the App Store. Those two cases are described separately in sections 5 and 6.
1. Information stored on your device
The App stores the following on your device:
- To-dos: title, note, due date, priority, star, repeat setting, creation time, completion time.
- Room state: the number of roaches and the cleanliness level, both calculated from how many to-dos are overdue.
- Review-prompt history: the running total of to-dos you have completed, the last time you were asked to rate the App, and how many times you have been asked.
All of it is recorded on your device based on your own actions. The App has no screen that asks for your name, email address, phone number, address, or date of birth.
2. Nothing is sent anywhere
The App's code contains no routine that sends data off your device. None of the information in section 1 is transmitted to the Developer's servers or to any third party.
3. Permissions the App does not request
The App requests no device permissions at all. You will never see a permission prompt for, and the App never accesses, any of the following:
- camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition;
- location, contacts, calendars, reminders;
- Bluetooth, motion, health data, Face ID;
- push notifications, tracking (App Tracking Transparency).
4. Device settings the App reads
To decide how to display itself, the App reads the following OS settings on your device. It does not store them and does not transmit them.
- Your device language, to decide whether to display Japanese or English.
- Your "Reduce Motion" setting, so that moving animations are stopped when it is on.
5. Information Apple and the OS receive
The App itself works entirely on your device, but the following may reach Apple through the App Store. Each is a function Apple provides, and none of it lets the Developer identify you.
- Ratings and reviews: You can submit a rating or review from "Rate this app" in Settings, or from the star-rating prompt that may appear just after you complete a to-do. That screen is provided by Apple; what you enter goes to Apple and is published on the App Store. The Developer cannot tell who wrote it. The prompt appears only when you have zero roaches, only if you have completed at least 10 to-dos, at most 3 times in total, and never less than 120 days after the previous time. Whether it actually appears is ultimately decided by the OS.
- Usage statistics and crash reports: If you have allowed sharing under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, information such as launch counts and crashes is sent to Apple, and the Developer may view it in App Store Connect as aggregate figures that do not identify anyone. You can turn this off from the same settings screen.
- Device backups: If you have iCloud Backup or a similar backup turned on, the data the App stored on your device may be included in that backup. The backup lives in your own iCloud storage, and the Developer cannot see its contents.
6. Information you send when you contact the Developer
"Contact" in Settings opens your mail app with a message addressed to the Developer. If you send it, the Developer receives:
- What is collected: your email address, any name or nickname in the message, the body of your message, and any images you attach.
- Why: solely to reply to you, to investigate and fix problems, and to improve the App.
- Disclosure: your message is not disclosed to third parties except with your consent or where required by law.
- Where it is kept: the contact address uses Gmail (Google LLC), so your message is stored on servers operated by that company in the United States and other countries.
- How long: after your inquiry is resolved and the record is no longer needed, it is deleted. If you would like it deleted sooner, write to the same address.
Unless you choose to contact the Developer, the Developer obtains no personal information from you.
7. Advertising, analytics, and tracking
The App shows no ads. It includes no analytics tool, no crash-reporting tool, no advertising SDK, and no social-network integration.
The only software components the App uses are the following, published by Apple and by Expo / React Native. Each states in its Privacy Manifest that it collects no data.
- React Native, Expo, expo-constants, expo-localization, expo-splash-screen, expo-status-bar, expo-store-review, AsyncStorage, react-native-safe-area-context
The App does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. That is why it never shows a tracking permission prompt.
8. Retention and deletion
- To-dos and room state: kept on your device until you delete them. "Delete all data" in Settings erases every to-do and your room. It cannot be undone.
- Review-prompt history: "Delete all data" does not erase this; it stays on your device. This is so that clearing your data does not make the same star-rating prompt reappear again and again. It contains nothing but your completion total and the dates and count of prompts.
- Erasing everything: deleting the App from your device erases everything it stored, including the review-prompt history. Anything already contained in a device backup is governed by your backup settings.
- Email you send to the Developer: see section 6.
9. How the information is protected
The information the App stores exists only on your device and has no path to the outside. It is kept in the per-app storage area provided by the OS, which other apps cannot read. Protection of the device itself depends on OS features and your own settings, such as a passcode or Face ID.
The App does not apply its own encryption or password lock to this on-device data. Please use the App on a device that has a lock set.
Complete security cannot be guaranteed, but by not collecting and not transmitting anything, the App keeps that risk to a minimum.
10. Children
The App is not directed primarily at children under 13 and is not listed in the App Store Kids Category. It has no age gate and no parental-consent mechanism, but it collects no personal information, has no accounts, and has no contact between users.
The App displays cartoon roach illustrations according to how many to-dos are overdue. They are stylized rather than realistic, but if a child who dislikes insects is going to use the App, please take a look first.
11. If you live outside Japan
The App is distributed on App Stores worldwide. The Developer is located in Japan, and this policy is based on Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom: the only personal data the Developer processes is the email described in section 6. The legal bases are the Developer's legitimate interest in responding to inquiries, and responding to your own request. You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your data, to restrict processing, and to object. To exercise those rights, use the contact address below. Because the contact address uses Gmail, your message is stored on servers located in the United States and other countries.
If you live in the United States: the Developer does not sell your personal information, does not share it with other companies, and does not use it for targeted advertising.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be revised as laws change or as the App changes. For any significant change, the in-app text and the public pages are updated together with the App, and the "Last updated" date is changed.
